“Beating Cancer with Faith, Optimism and Humor” was an easy read that brought both tears to my eyes and smiles to my face. I related to so much of Fabi’s experiences battling leukemia that are described in intimate detail with courage, compassion and vulnerability. I encourage anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer or who has friends or family battling cancer to read this book. It provides an intimate look into the heart and mind of cancer patient. From the simple pleasure of that first shower without being connected to an infusion machine, to the fear and paranoia whenever cancer patients feel or see something different in our bodies, to the disappointment of having to accept limitations caused by treatments, to the gratitude for life’s little blessings and the gift of another day, Fabi shares the multitude of often conflicting emotions that we cancer patients encounter and does so with humor and self-deprecation. Cancer is a devastating diagnosis for anyone because of the uncertainty of survivability and sometimes all we can do is to be grateful for the smallest of life’s little blessings and the moments of precious time with family, friends and loved ones. Thank you, Fabi, for sharing your most intimate thoughts and experiences with us.

"I have known Fabiana personally since 2012. This book shows her true personality of warmth, humor, strength, and courage. She is a real inspiration to everyone she meets, and now everyone can meet her through this amazing book. The book reads as if you are sitting with her in your living room and the two of you are catching up on the trials of life.
What Fabiana has been through is horrific, but her book somehow makes the events less horrible because she shows us how to be strong and fight. To see her today, always smiling and optimistic, is a miracle.
What I take away from this book is that God helps those who helps themselves, and we all have the strength to help ourselves until God can finish the job for us. Thank you, Fabiana, for sharing your story and showing us how to really live life."

Having worked with Cancer patients professionally as a Registered Nurse, Fabiana's journey was not unfamiliar to me, and yet, at the same time, her book provided a much more intimate and personalized account of her experiences from a patient's perspective. In this book, she presents a very realistic and unflinching view of "life as a cancer patient" ranging from the initial shock of receiving the official diagnosis, to describing physical symptoms of the illness, the pain and suffering of enduring various medical procedures and treatments, and her emotional and mental outlook -- including her ups and downs -- throughout the course of her cancer "journey." As the book's title indicates, she persevered and came through an incredibly challenging process, through her faith, optimism and humor.

"I absolutely loved this book! Fabiana’s optimism in the face of such a difficult time in her life is both refreshing and inspiring to read. Her love of life, her amazing sense of humor and her faith shine bright throughout her book. The indescribable struggles that she faced and how she overcame them holding on to her faith, her sense of humor and her optimism teach us such valuable lessons, especially in a world where we are so used to taking things for granted. Reading this book helped me put my life into perspective and realize how blessed I truly am and how small my problems are. I am healthy, my children are healthy and that is what matters the most. Fabiana, you did an incredible job telling your story and I am sure you are touching the lives of countless people with your story."

"If you know Fabi, you will know that she is as described in the book: optimistic, humorous, warm, loves life, and is full of energy. In her book, Fabi shares the weaknesses, fears, physical and mental pains that her leukemia patients have experienced. The reason why she can beat cancer is also as optimistic and humorous as the book says, her love of life, her faith and the support of her family helped defeat cancer. I thank to Fabi for sharing her story; a true anti-cancer psychological journey."

NEW YORK – Fabiana Da Silva retells her journey through cancer and shares an inspiring message for
anyone battling health hardships in her new memoir “Beating Cancer with Faith, Optimism, and Humor”
( published by Lulu ).
Written with an uplifting message, the book’s purpose is to enable anyone to see that no obstacle is
bigger than their desire to live. The author walks the reader through the time leading up to discovering
she had leukemia, including her marriage, trip to Brazil and the symptoms that lead to her diagnosis. Da
Silva discusses her treatments and their impact on her marriage as well as her positive outlook. She
reminds readers that being alive and healthy is the best gift, that every moment in life is precious, and
that they should cherish and enjoy them as if they were the last.
Da Silva hopes to leave readers with the idea that “There is always hope! Even though life may hit us hard
with things that we do not expect, it is extremely important to allow ourselves to feel sad when we need
to, being aware of our situation is part of our healing process, but we should also remind ourselves that
things will turn around and we should not remain in the state of sadness. … Fighting against our own
demons has to become a daily practice so that we don’t become sad and depressed for the rest of our
lives.”
